Rita Theresa Fehlhafer
Springville
Rita Theresa Fehlhafer, 83, of Springville, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Hiawatha Care Center. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or services held. Burial will be held at a later date at Springville Cemetery. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Rita was born on February 4, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Lodema (McKinstry) Butler. She was a 1959 graduate of Springville High School. On November 27, 1960, Rita was united in marriage to Ronald Lee Fehlhafer in Marion. She worked as a receptionist for doctors Wright, Armstrong, Lynch, and for Dr. McConkie and then worked for Physicians Clinic of Iowa for 23 years, until her retirement in 2001. Rita was a member of the Springville United Methodist Church, a 52-year member of the Wapsipinicon Country Club, and participated in various bridge clubs. She had a talent for singing. In her retirement, she sang at nursing homes where she delighted residents, so much that they began to call her “Karaoke Rita”. She enjoyed collecting angels and was an avid reader. Rita will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and they will never forget her infectious laugh.
Rita is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Ronald Fehlhafer; two children, Renee (Brett) Jamison of Springville, and Rodney Fehlhafer (John Allen) of El Paso, Texas; three grandchildren, Angela (Mark) Lehman, Adam (Amanda) Clary, and Alec Jamison (Rachael Pedrick); and six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Jacie, Makayla, Carlee, Evalyn, and Milo, who were her greatest pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy Jarmon; brother, Kenneth Butler; and sister, Vivian Yvonne Butler.
Memorials in Rita’s name may be directed to the family.
