Rita Marie O’Callaghan

Rita Marie O’Callaghan passed away peacefully on November 21, 2021 with her family. She was 85. Rita was born in Chicago to Ross and Mae Carnaggio on October 9, 1936. Rita met Kenneth while attending Proviso East Highschool and a few years later they married in 1957. They were happily married for 64 years. Rita was a passionate lover of her family. Rita taught her family to love deep and to share well, it was a legacy of love that she leaves behind. Rita was a long time resident of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, living there 27 years and then moved to Palatine, Illinois for another 31 years. Rita is survived by her loving husband Kenneth I. O’Callaghan, her daughter Laura F. (O’Callaghan) Swinden, her son-in-law Larry A. Swinden, son Matthew R. O’Callaghan, daughter-in-law Lisa J. O’Callaghan, grandsons Shawn Swinden, Andrew Swinden, Brian O’Callaghan, Michael O’Callaghan, granddaughter Mary O’Callaghan, granddaughter’s in-law Jennifer Swinden and Cortney Swinden. Family and friends whose lives have been touched by Rita are invited to attend visitation on November 30th, 8:45AM to 9:30AM, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home located at 185 E. Northwest Hwy, Palatine Illinois. Immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church located at 455 N. Benton St. Palatine. Interment private.
