Rita J. Ness

Rita J. Ness, age 91, of Hinckley, IL passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at her home. She was born on October 24, 1930 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Herbert and Hazel (Hartman) Wahlgren.

Rita was united in marriage on April 3, 1949 to Mr. Joseph Ness and they spent the next 48 years happily together until his passing on March 9, 1997. Mrs. Ness was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Hinckley, IL and its Dorcas Circle. She was employed for many years, until her retirement, with Dreyer Medical Clinic in Aurora, IL. Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Rita is survived by her children, Dan (Claudia) Ness of Leland, IL, Karen (Scott) Hill of Rockford, IL, and Kathy (Mike McCoy) Niles of Sheridan, IL; her 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Sandy Wahlgren of Plano, IL; his brother-in-law, Ed Evans of Big Rock, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Hazel Wahlgren; her step-mother, Ivy Wahlgren; her husband, Joseph Ness; her sons, Tim and Jeffrey Ness; her brothers, Ron and Larry Wahlgren; and her son-in-law, Bill Niles.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 North Maple Street, Hinckley, IL. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley, IL.

Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel in Hinckley, IL.

A memorial fund is being established in Rita’s memory.
