Richard “Rick” S. Weitzel

Richard “Rick” S. Weitzel, 67, of Pawnee, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born July 26, 1954, in Springfield, the son of Carl and Mary Alice (Stevens) Weitzel. He married Regina Cass on September 16, 2000 and she preceded him in death in 2009.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Judy Weitzel and Mary Ellen VanAmburgh; and three brothers, Tom, Jerry and Don Weitzel.

Survivors include his two children, Chris (Jamie) Kelso of Athens and Jamie Riggs of Ashland; four grandchildren, Caleb Kelso, and Neveah, Kinzley and Braelyn Riggs; two sisters, Sally King of Paducah, KY and Carol (Bill) Wendling of Springfield; sister-in-law, Cherrie Weitzel of Auburn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rick was a member of ABATE of Illinois. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcyle. He worked in lawn care services and also for J&W Countertops.

Visitation: 1:00 – 4:00 pm, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 4:00 pm, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Mike Harney officiating.
