Richard “Rick” Greenman, 78, of Cedar Rapids died Monday, December 23, 2024
at Mercy Medical Center with daughter Shannon and life partner Paula by his
side.
Rick was born September 23, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, son of Richard “Dick” Greenman and Cornelia (White) Greenman-Black. He was a 1964 Jefferson High School graduate. Rick lived in California for many years returning to Cedar Rapids to be with his best friend Paula, and family. Rick developed a passion for restoring and servicing vintage boat motors in his retirement. He shared his expertise with
many customers who became friends. He was known as the “boat-motor man”.
Survivors include life partner, Paula Witten; daughter, Shannon Greenman; grandson, Austin Richard (Grace) Greenman; great-grandson, Gilbert James Greenman; sister, Gayle Hoeppner; nephews Craig (Ify) Hoeppner, Eric (Suzanne) Hoeppner; Paula’s son Jeff (Kelly) Sharpe; former wife, Rebecca Greenman and several great-nephews/nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick Greenman, Cornelia Black, sister Josephine Greenman; brother-in-law Curtis Hoeppner.
Rick will be missed by his family and friends. He is now free to cruise full speed ahead down the river in his airboat built with his own hands.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
