Richard Lee “Dick” Brown

Richard Lee “Dick” Brown, age 81, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia following a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
Born in New Philadelphia on January 12, 1940, Dick was one of six children born to the late Joseph and Irene Yegher Brown.
Dick was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and worked for many years at U.S. Steel until its closing and completed his career with Allied Machine Company.
He was an avid gardener, and landscaper. He loved working with and pruning his flowers and keeping his yard in near perfect condition. Dick also enjoyed Country Music, making trips to Las Vegas and Mountaineer; but most of all had a deep love for his family and spending time with them.
Surviving are two daughters, Debbi (Jim) Tucker of Strasburg, Terri (Mike) Tice of New Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Mike (Krystal) Roth, Rick (Kim) Roth, Ben (Hannah) Tucker, Chris (Erica) Tucker, Anthony (Lindsay) Harshey and Nicholas (Ciara) Harshey, as well as 18 great-grandchildren. Completing the family are his siblings, Thomas (Sue) Brown, Robert (Marilyn) Brown, Carol (Bill) Arnold, and Jerry (Judy) Brown; a son-in-law, Tom (Alisa) Roth, a sister-in-law, Janadean “Toots” Brown, and a very good friend, David Oakes.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife Sandi Brown; a daughter, Ronni Roth; and a brother, Joe Brown.
The family will greet guests on Friday, November 19, 2021, from Noon -2 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Father Jeff Coning will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel at 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
