Richard (Dick) Raymond Lamb, age 78, passed away surrounded by his family on August 31st, 2024. A visitation from 9-10 AM followed by a service at 10AM will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14th at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Dick was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Sondra Bolsinger-Lamb, son Rob Lamb (Cindy), daughters Beth Lamb and April Kennedy (Mike) and granddaughters SaraGrace Lamb, Sophia Kennedy, and Lily Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Grace (McKee) Lamb, and his sister, Phyllis Lamb Goldman.

Dick was born in Des Moines, IA on April 20th, 1946. He attended Roosevelt High School where he served as captain of the football team, participated in All State Chorus, won a state track title, and was the Senior Class President. He then attended Grinnell College where he played football and graduated with the class of 1968. After the passing of his father, Dick became part owner and manager of Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During this time, he also played semi-pro football for the Cedar Rapids Raiders.

Dick started his banking career as a management trainee in Downers Grove, IL and worked his way up to being the President of several small, family-owned banks, all in Illinois. He was active in various community organizations including the Kiwanis Club, American Red Cross, Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce and he was a Master Mason. In his spare time, you could find him grilling, golfing, and rooting for the Chicago Bears.

At a high school reunion, Dick and Sondra rekindled their relationship. They then had a courtship where he danced his way into her heart. Dick retired in 2011 and returned back to Cedar Rapids to marry Sondra. They made many wonderful memories dancing and traveling, especially cruising.

Dick was a man of many talents and will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was a bronze life master bridge player, voracious reader, and enjoyed games and puzzles. His children have many fond memories of playing games with him including cards, trivia, charades and of course, cribbage. Dick loved spending time with his granddaughters of whom he was very proud. Princess Bride jokes and quotes were a constant when the family was together. So, while this loss is inconceivable, we know that death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.

The family would like to thank the staff at Unity Point hospice for all the love, care and support they showed Dick and his family while he was in their care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meth-Wick Community at methwick.org or the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
