Richard “Dick” Morgan Steele, 91, of Marion, Iowa passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church: 1790 14th Street, Marion, Iowa 52302. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM, at the church. Burial to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors.

Richard Morgan Steele was born May 25, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Lowell and Irma (Webster) Steele. He graduated from McKinley High School. Richard served honorably in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Vogl on February 16, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Cedar Rapids Moose Lodge, and the American Legion.

Richard worked at the Chicago and NorthWestern Railroad, and proudly retired after 28 years of service. Richard enjoyed playing the clarinet for the Iowa Veterans Military Band, New Horizons, and the Collins Aerospace Band. He loved music, woodworking, vintage cars, golf, fishing, photography, traveling, animals, and working on his computer. Richard’s greatest joys were family and friend get-togethers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Steele of Marion, IA; five daughters, Jane Steiert of Marion, IA; Sara (Jason) Voyles of Trinidad, CO; Peggy Lukenbill of Marion, IA; Polly (Dustyn) Steele of Ankeny, IA; and Linda Beaver of Duluth, MN; eleven grandchildren, Morgan, Kelsey, Joshua, Andrew, Ben, Emily, Jacob, Haley, Dylan, Anna, and Sophia; seven great-grandchildren (with four additional ones due this year); and many loving extended family members and friends.

He was preceded by his parents, a brother, Forest Steele, and his sister-in-law, Ann Steele.
