Rex D. Diamante

Rex D. Diamante, 56, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. He was born March 31, 1965 in the Philippines, the son of Jose and Trinidad (De Guzman) Diamante. He married Rosel Peruelo on January 7, 1991 and she survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Rumer Diamante of Springfield; six siblings, Romeo Diamante, Juliet Diamante, Corazõn Gonzalez, Rolly Diamante, Joy Ramillete, and Roy Diamante; mother-in-law, Salvacion Peruelo; sister-in-law, Teresa Alarcio; brother-in-law, Raffy Peruelo; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Trinidad.

Rex was of the Catholic Faith and attended mass at Christ the King Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing golf and watching his favorite college basketball team, the Illinois Fighting Illini. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Rex worked for the State Journal Register as a newspaper vendor since 2000.

Visitation: 10 – 11:30 am, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Reverend Manuel P. Cuizon officiating. Cremation will be accorded following services.
