Reverend Harold K. Crenshaw, Sr.

Reverend Harold K. Crenshaw, Sr., 82, of Riverton, died at 8:28 am, Saturday, March 5, 2022 at his home. He was born January 7, 1940 in Elizabethtown, KY to Vernal and Margaret (King) Crenshaw. He married Mariam Stoess November 1, 1960.

He is survived by his wife, Mariam; three children, Harold K. (Tina) Crenshaw, Jr. of Worthington, IN, Catherine Renee (James) Skedel of Garnett, KS and Bonnie Jean Sapp of Irondale, MO; eight grandchildren, Kelly Crock, Emily Crenshaw, Keith A. Sapp, Jr., James Michael Skedel, Stephanie Perez, Adam John Sapp, Allyson Crenshaw and Jacob Kenneth Skedel; three sisters, Patricia Crenshaw of Alaska, Gloria Rochelle of California and Carolyn Sue Zvirblis of Florida; three brothers, David Crenshaw of Florida, Vernal Edward “Ed” Crenshaw of Missouri and Paul Samuel Crenshaw of California and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Keith Sapp, Sr.; a granddaughter Ashley Crenshaw and a brother, Cecil Ray Crenshaw.

Harold retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Gunnery Sergeant after 20 years of service. He was a truck driver for 10 years and was a prison guard for 4 years while at the same time serving as a bivocational pastor. He attended Seminary in Kentucky and served as pastor at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church for 11 years and Coal City Community Church for 6 years. He was the Chaplain for the American Legion in Coal City, IN. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

He currently belonged to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Worthington, IN.

Visitation: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, Friday, March 18, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
