OBITUARY FOR RASAUN HASAUNTE CALHOUN, SR.

Rasaun Hasaunte Calhoun, Sr. was born April 22, 1974, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the second child of three born to Andre Calhoun and Brenda Faye Hardy-Calhoun. As a child, his mother instilled Godly principles and values into his life. Rasaun accepted Christ at an early age at Faith Center Community Church in Pittsburgh, PA. One of his favorite scriptures was Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”. Rasaun transitioned to Cleveland with family during his high school years and attended Euclid High School. Rasaun went on to obtain his “CDL” and became a professional truck driver. During that time, he met Deeonda Overton and they had two beautiful children, Rasaun H. Calhoun II and Chandler M. Calhoun. Every decision he made he had his children in mind. He worked tirelessly to provide and care for them. His desire was to be the best father that he could be. Instilling in them Godly values and morals. Encouraging them to be confident in their God given abilities. Seeing his children succeed in whatever they did, brought him so much joy. He was so proud of his children. The love he had for then. there are no words that we can describe. Leaving them a legacy to look up to. To Rasaun, family was first. Rasaun also had nicknames for his children, Rasaun he called “Deuce”, and Chandler he called “Moot”.

Rasaun had many different attributes that made him whom he was. He was kind, loving, strong, structured, encouraging, funny, and easy to talk to, a shoulder to lean on and had a beautiful smile. He certainly was a positive influence. Rasaun was good with electronics, and he could fix and put anything together. Everyone who knew Rasaun knew he was a “Die Hard” “Pittsburgh Steelers Fan” and did not make any excuses about it. Rasaun was a self-taught free hand barber. A hobby of his was collecting fitted baseball hats and all types of tennis shoes. He also had a love of music. He would often just take a drive, riding around, listening to his music. Family members had different nicknames that they would call him as well which was “Saun“, “Saunte”,”Log”, “Saun Dog”, “Sanchez”, and “Aunsay”. Last, but not least, Rasaun is leaving a legacy of love for his children, family, and his friends to remember and be proud of. Words are not enough to express how much he will be missed.

Preceded in death was his mother, Brenda Faye Hardy-Calhoun. Surviving are his children, Rasaun H. Calhoun II, and Chandler M. Calhoun. His siblings, Tanisha A. Howell, Charlotte, NC, and Victor M. Calhoun, Cleveland, Ohio. His niece, Aleah L. Howell, and nephew David A. Howell. Surviving parent, Andre Calhoun. Surviving grandparent, Beulah M. Hardy. Rasaun leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
