Randy (Randall) John Sirowy
Brighton, Colo.
Randy (Randall) John Sirowy, 70, of Brighton, Colo., passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, surrounded by his family. Randy was born Sept. 20, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Roger and Marian Sirowy.
He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970, then continued his education at the University of Iowa, graduating in 1975. He received his master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1983.
In 1974, Randy married his high school sweetheart, Debbie (Martens), and they moved to Colorado the same year so that Randy could pursue his teaching career. He started his career at North Junior High, then moved to Brighton High School (BHS) a few years later. Randy finished teaching full time in 2002, but that was short lived when he realized his passion for the special needs kids and the TLC program at BHS. He spent many hours with the program as a sub and he always looked forward to sponsoring and attending the TLC picnic every May.
Randy and Debbie have two kids, Ryan and Jamie who he loved dearly. He had a few hobbies that he enjoyed including playing his guitars and jamming whenever he could, and took pride in his musical talents. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and going to different race tracks to watch the races during the summer months, and enjoyed his vintage baseball card collection with his son, Ryan. He shared his love of VW Beetles with his daughter, Jamie. His four grandkids were his pride and joy, each having a personal bond in a different way with him.
Randy is survived by his 91 year-old mother, Marian of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his wife of almost 50 years, Debbie; his two children, Ryan (Desiree) Sirowy and Jamie (Lee) Katchen; and his four grandkids, Reece, Zoie, Reegan and Phoenix, all of Brighton, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bella Sera Event Center in Brighton, Colo., on Sunday, Oct. 1, from 3 to 7 p.m. (details can be found on the Facebook Page “Celebration of Life for Randy Sirowy”), and one in Cedar Rapids at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, we are accepting donations for the TLC program directly. Checks can be made payable to “27J Schools” and mailed to Blackjack Pizza, c/o Sirowy, 1521 E Bridge St., Brighton, CO 80601.
