R.L. “Jack” Cardwell

R.L. “Jack” Cardwell, 90 of Hendersonville, died Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Carolina Village Medical Center. Born in Akron, Ohio, he was a son of the late Herbert and Alta Dalton Cardwell. He had lived in Hendersonville for over 30 years. He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and graduated from East Tennessee State University. He retired from Sherwin-Williams Paint Company, where he was a Regional District Manager.
Upon retiring to Hendersonville, he was active in the “Crooked Creekers” golfing group and volunteered his time at what is now Vocational Solutions of Henderson County.
He was also preceded in death by a sister Patricia Williams and a brother Hollis Cardwell
Surviving is his wife of over 60 years, Ellen Nashio Cardwell; a daughter Lisa Cardwell Ponten and husband Loren of Kenmore, WA; two granddaughters Emily Ponten May and husband Michael of Seattle, WA and Ingrid Ponten Vaterlaus and husband Cooper of Latonia, KY; sisters Jewell Hudgens of Morristown, TN, Audry Cooper of Charleston, SC and Glenda Stallings of Morristown, TN; and one brother Tom Cardwell of Charleston, SC.
