R.L. “Dick” McKain

R. L. “Dick” McKain, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. He was born April 11, 1937, in Farmersville, to August and Evelyn A. McKain.

Dick retired from the Illinois Farm Bureau in Bloomington, on January 3, 1995 after 27 years as Director of Government Finance and Legislative Liaison.

He is survived by two sons, Terrance (Diane) McKain of Florida and Randall (Dawn) McKain of Lexington; one grandson; two granddaughters; one sister, Sharon McKain of Springfield; two brothers, Bill (Charlotte) McKain of Auburn and Arthur “Don” McKain of Georgia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a past member of the Illinois Property Tax Assessment Institute, County Assessment Officers Association of the State of Illinois, International Association of Assessing Officials, Academy of Political Science and from 1980-1995 a member of the Taxpayer’s Federation of Illinois Advisory Committee. Dick was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 437.

Cremation rites were accorded per Dick’s wishes.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Animal Protective League.
