Phyllis Ann Karr, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf of Mercy following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Nick March. A Vigil Service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home. Friends not attending the vigil may visit with the family from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday and after noon, Saturday at the church.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Shannon (Alan) Foote of Ames and Karey Karr of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; son, Patrick of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Taylor, Justin and Kaitlyn Bown, Justin (Rebecca) and Jordan Foote, Brenna (Justin) Freund and Mya Drees; great-grandsons, Bentley and Clayton Freund and Theodore Foote; sister, Merna McClain; brother, Mike (Pamela) Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Keith; parents; and great-nephew, Baker Michael Munson.

Phyllis was born Aug. 29, 1940, in Iowa City, the daughter of Vincent and Margaret Quinn Sullivan. In 1958, she graduated from Jefferson High School. On Oct. 31, 1959, Phyllis married Keith Clayton Karr in Cedar Rapids. She worked in technical support for MCI for many years, retiring in 2007.

Phyllis was very close to her family and liked watching her children and grandchildren’s sporting activities, and attending family gatherings. She enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. Phyllis loved playing Bingo and prided herself in winning games. She will be missed by those who loved and knew her.
