Philip B. Peterson Sr.

Philip B. “Hot Dog” Peterson Sr., age 68 of DeKalb, IL passed away, surrounded by family and friends, on April 27, 2022 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. He was born on August 1, 1953 in DeKalb, IL the son of Albert A. and F. Irene (Hawbaker) Peterson.
Philip was united in marriage on July 18, 1986 to Jodie James and they spent the next 35 years happily together. Philip was employed, until his retirement, as a Maintenance Manager with the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority. He was a longtime member of the Waterman Presbyterian Church in Waterman, IL. Philip played in several bands over the years, the most recent, for the last 18 years, was the Southern Knights Band. He enjoyed playing piano, enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Philip was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends.
Philip is survived by his wife, Jodie Peterson of DeKalb, IL; his children, Nate (Shannon) Peterson of Vandalia, IL, Michele “Chele” (Todd) Wells of Steward, IL, Meagan Peterson of Sycamore, IL and Philip (Inge) Peterson Jr., of Paw Paw, IL; his grandchildren, Ryan, Brady, Shay, Bryson, Braylon, Reese, Hunter, Easten, Theda and Hank; his great-granddaughter, Tatum; his brother, Stephen (Nancy) Peterson of Waterman, IL; also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Florence Peterson; his brother, Stanley Peterson; his infant sister; two nephews and one great-niece.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the Indian Oaks Country Club in Shabbona, IL.
