Phana Marie Conaway
- May 7, 2021
Phana Marie Conaway, age 62, of North Canton and formerly of the Tuscarawas Valley, died late Thursday, May 6, 2021, while in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.
Born on September 11, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Ferrai) Merryman.
After completing her RN-BSN she spent many years in the medical field and later turned her focus of care to the administrative side of healthcare where she worked as a Director of Nursing and Vice President of Clinical Services for several firms until her health would no longer allow.
In her younger years, Phana enjoyed being on a bowling league with her husband. Once she became a grandmother, her world changed and did everything possible to ensure she attended every school or sporting activity of her grandchildren. For many years, Phana was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church at Uhrichsville and later her faith was nurtured at the Faith Family Church in Canton.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Conaway whom she married on July 10, 1976, their daughters, Shari Conaway of New Philadelphia and Nikki (Justin) Caldwell of Bolivar, and her grandchildren, Jordyn, Brayden, Paityn, and Brooklynn Caldwell.
In keeping with Phana’s wishes, there will not be any public visitation or services. Cremation will be conducted through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
Contributions in Phana’s memory may be directed to Authentic Church, 201 Stonecreek Road NW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
