Cedar Rapids

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26.

Peggy Jo Ziemer (Carl) died on November 7, 2024 in the certain hope of the resurrection. She is preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and James Carl. She is survived by her husband Gilbert Ziemer, son Zach (Susie) Ziemer, son Toby (Lauren) Ziemer, and brother Don Carl. Her deep joy was found in her two grandsons Carl and Elias.

Peggy was born November 27, 1951 in Stephen, MN and attended college at Moorhead State. She studied education and German. She served her next community as an activities director in nursing homes. She traveled the world with Lutheran Youth Encounter and Outreach for Christ – musical, Gospel missions teams. Through this, she met her husband Gib. They were married September 4, 1988 and began their life and family in Cedar Rapids.

Peggy’s educational skills first blessed her sons and then she worked with the Cedar Rapids schools to help homeschooling families resource, connect, and teach their kids. She met and made many friends through her work. She was compassionate and bright and taught everyone with love her whole life.

Peggy was the dearest wife, mother, sister, and Christian. She loved until it hurt. She gave herself away for her family. Her life was not easy – especially her last months with cancer. She persevered knowing that Jesus would heal her. Today she is healed, and we can take comfort knowing that she is redeemed, whole, and with her Heavenly Father forever.

Her family will celebrate her life at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom with a visitation on November 15 from 4-7 pm and a service on November 16 at 2 pm. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to her husband and family.
