Paul Simon Hinschberger, 94, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Paul was born November 3, 1929 in Fargo, ND the son of Manferd and Rose (Diemert) Hinschberger. He attended Shanley High School in Fargo before graduating from Assumption Abbey in Richardton, ND. Paul was married to Lucie Sauvageau, April 14, 1951 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Fargo. Shortly thereafter Paul was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. He returned home in 1953 where he began his career in the meat packing industry at Armor Meats as a salesman. They moved to Omaha, NE in 1969, before settling in Belle Plaine in 1971. Paul was the sales manager at Tama Pack as well as several sales positions through his career including Rath Packing Co. and B&B Motors. Even after retirement he continued to work for Country Foods and the Kirkwood Center in Belle Plaine.

Paul enjoyed hunting, golfing, antiquing, playing hockey, square dancing, and loved watching his kids and grandkids wrestle. He was a member of the Elks Club, Belle Plaine American Legion, Knights of Columbus where he served as a Grand Knight, and St. Michaels Catholic Church.

Paul is survived by his children, Bob (Glynis) Hinschberger of Roseville, MN, Tom (Kim) Hinschberger of Belle Plaine, Jim (Janice) Hinschberger of Belle Plaine, Mari (Denny) Grieder of Belle Plaine, Dean (Kelly) Hinschberger of Belle Plaine, Bruce (Dianna) Hinschberger of Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law, Terri Jo Hinschberger of Belle Plaine; sister, Sue (Bill) Keller of Redding, CA; brother-in-law, Jules Kurtz of San Jose, CA; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and many more loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucie Hinschberger; son, Kurt Hinschberger, great-grandchildren, Jacoby Sickels and Morgan Grieder; brothers, Lee, Gail, Pat Hinschberger; sisters, Fern Budrow and Joan Kurtz.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Belle Plaine. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine with military honors.
