Patrick Vincent Mooney, 64, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at St. Lukes Hospital. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where there will be a 3:30 p.m. rosary. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Patrick was born on October 28, 1959, in Waukon, the son of Vincent and Rosemary (O’Brien) Mooney. He graduated from Kee High School, in the class of 1978. Patrick worked at Coca-Cola for over thirty-six years, retiring in 2022. He was united in marriage Chris Hartson on September 22, 1979, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Hawkeyes, Cubs, Steelers, traveling, but most of all spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Those who knew Pat knew well his infectious personality and ability to brighten the room’s mood. He will be greatly missed.
Patrick is survived by his wife Chris; his daughter Amie (Ryan) DeBlieck; his grandchildren Kayden, Beckett and Yvette; his brother Tim (Julee) Mooney; his sisters-in-law Judy (Craig) Willman, Sue (Mel) Ellis and Julie Mooney; brother-in-law Dave Hoch; as well as his nieces and nephews; and special boys Leo, John and Charlie Smejkal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Terry Mooney, sister Maureen Hoch, his mother and fathers in law Marie and William Ellis and Eveard Hartson, and his brother-in-law Abe Hartson.
Memorials may be directed to the family. Please keep your thoughts, prayers to those who knew Pat’s friends, family and former co-workers closely in your hearts, that he loved so dearly.
