Patrick S. Kern, 68, of Poland, Ohio passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born in Mansfield, Ohio on March 18, 1953 to the late Arthur and Dolores (Conway) Kern.
Patrick was a 1971 graduate of Madison High School. Furthering his education, he attended General Motors Institute in 1976 and later graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Masters Degree in 1977. Patrick spent a long career in pre-engineered metal buildings, working at numerous companies. He held multiple job positions until he started his own company, International Ventures. Patrick was an avid golfer and a big Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy (Patton) Kern of Poland, OH; daughter, Allison Kern of Youngstown, OH; two sons, Joshua Kern of Memphis, TN and Mason Kern of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter, Willow August Kern Mitchell; 11 brothers and sisters, Michael Kern of Shelby, Kathy (Doug) Mullins of Mansfield, Kevin Kern of Mansfield, Maureen (Andrew) Johnson of Ontario, Cullen (Sharon Lawhorn) Kern of Atlanta, GA, Kerry (Shelley Crist) Kern of Normal, IL, Shannon (Beth Cashdollar) Kern of Lucas, Colleen (Dave) Benecke of Lewis Center, OH, Tim (Nava) Kern of Boston, MA, Dan (Angie May) Kern of Bellville, and Erin (Mark) Reeb of Grove City, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. A service will follow thereafter beginning at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Ken Kinley officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park.
