Patricia L. Haven, 94, of Independence, IA, died Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Lexington Estate at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.

Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church followed by burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery, all in Independence.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the church.

Patricia was born June 30, 1931, in Independence, at her home on Chatham Street, to Clarence and Emma (Klein) Nielsen. She graduated from Independence High School with the Class of 1949, before attending Luther College in Decorah, IA. On May 16, 1954, she was united in marriage to Burnell Kaye Haven at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. They made their home in Independence. For over 40 years, she worked as secretary and treasurer of the family business, Wapsie Valley Creamery, in Independence.

Pat was a lifelong and dedicated member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence, and active in many church and community organizations over the years.

Pat is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Brenda) Haven of Plano, TX, and Matthew (Judy) Haven of Cedarburg, WI; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved spouse, Bernie, and her three brothers, Frank Nielsen, Jim Nielsen, and Wilbur Nielsen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Buchanan County Health Center Auxiliary or the Buchanan County Health Trust.
