Patricia F. Joens, 87, of Cedar Rapids passed May 20, 2024, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a short illness. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A funeral service will follow the visitation and begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Patricia Joens was born on July 8, 1936, in Mobile, AL to Mamie Evans and Homer Jones. She married Donald Joens on June 5, 1953, in Lucedale, MS. She retired from Collins Radio in 1991. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her special friends from Cedar Crest apartments and cherished spending time with her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter Doris Cooksey and husband Richard of Huachuca City, AZ, two sons, Darrell and wife Natalie Simon-Joens of St. Petersburg, FL, and Larry and wife Natalie of Cedar Rapids, a sister-in-law, Shirley Ward of Center Point, four grandchildren, Jennifer Armstrong of Marion, Richard Cooksey Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Jarred Joens and Paulina Sommer of Neustadt, Germany, and Cortney Joens and Austin Schwartz of Cedar Rapids, six great-grandchildren, Sage and Rozelyn of Marion, Rosalie, Genevieve, and Ida of Neustadt, Germany, and Liana of Cedar Rapids, two sisters and one brother-in- law of Mobile, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Joens, a daughter Cynthia Joens, five brothers, and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
