Otto Robert Naumann, Jr., born 5 September 1929, a native of Hilton Village, Warwick County, Virginia and long-time resident of York County, died 1 April 2022. He is survived by his wife, Judith Anne K. Hartman of Williamsburg, Virginia; a daughter, Tracey Augusta Naumann Scudieri and her husband, Stephen Philip Scudieri of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; a sister, Carolyn Robertson of Williamsburg, Virginia; a brother, Douglas Wayne Naumann and wife Gayle of Concord, North Carolina.
Otto was predeceased by his wives, Christine Anne Carr Naumann and Doris Miller Naumann; parents, Carrie Ella Collins Naumann and Otto Robert Naumann, Sr.; and a brother, Eugene Claude Naumann.
He attended public schools and was a graduate from Warwick High School, attended Newport News Shipyard Apprentice School as a tool and die maker, was graduated from Virginia Military Institute 1954 with a BS in Civil Engineering, attended T.C. Williams School of Law, was graduated from U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and attended U.S. Army War College.
Otto was a veteran of the Korean Peace Keeping Mission followed by 31 years of reserve service in the Virginia Army National Guard/U.S. Army Reserve from which he retired as Colonel Corps of Engineers.
His civilian employment was spent with Standard Oil Co. (NJ), E.I. DuPont Co., Malcolm Pirnie Consulting Engineers, Rochester Ropes, and the Department of Defense, always involved in the practice of Civil/Environmental Engineering, retiring 1991.
He was a long-time member of Emmaus Baptist Church, Poquoson, Virginia. Otto was a 60 plus year member of the A.F. & A.M. member of Manchester Lodge #14, Richmond, Virginia, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Richmond, Virginia, the Shriners Acca Temple in Richmond and Khedive Temple in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Colonel Naumann US ARMY Ret. was a life member of the Retired Officers Association, the National Rifle Association, and the American Legion Post #273 in Poquoson, Virginia. He was a former member/officer in The National Society of Civil Engineers, Delta Theta Law Fraternity, National Society of Power Engineers, and the Seaford Yacht Club and The Country Club of Virginia.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, 12 April 2022 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM with service to follow at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, Virginia 23188, 757-229-3822. Reception to follow, information will be provided at Bucktrout Funeral Home on the day of service. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
