Orson M. Bangert

Orson M. Bangert of Sharon, WI

Orson M. Bangert was born May 4, 1942, in Chicago to Orville M. and Ora E. (DeWitt) Bangert.  He passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at his home in Sharon.

Orson became a nature lover at a very early age, going on camping trips with his family.  He loved fishing, birdwatching, waterskiing and canoeing.

Becoming a microbiologist fit perfectly into his being.

As years went by, trips to the Bills’ home in Iowa to hunt birds became routine as Ors became a passionate and accomplished hunter and marksman.  Deer hunting became a fall favorite, but Ors never lost his love of simply watching and admiring wildlife.

Orson also enjoyed playing a round of golf when time would allow and worked at Geneva National after retiring from the Laboratory.  Orson and Cindy became each other’s favorite golf partner and they appreciated golfing with their sons and grandsons, even though it was infrequent.

Orson passed his love of the outdoors to both of his sons, Orson and Orrin, who are passing it on to their sons, Asher, Judah and Brayden.

Orson is survived by his wife, Cindy, whom he married on August 20, 1978, in South Bergen, Illinois. Children include Orson D. (Alisha) Bangert, Orrin M. Bangert, and Julee Vogel; son-in-law Mark Webber; grandchildren Scott, Mason, Julien, Emelia, Jacob, Ethan, Asher, Judah, and Brayden; great grandchildren Gus and Knox; sister Orla (Michael) Karakourtis; brother Orrin (Patricia) Bangert; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Jeniffer Webber, as well as his parents.

A Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Toynton’s Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St., Walworth.  A Memorial service will be on Saturday, February 10 at 11:00 AM at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 228 Martin Street, Sharon, WI.  The family will be receiving friends at church beginning at 10:00 AM.
