Obituary: Thomas A. Bohemier
- October 17, 2020
Mr. Thomas A. Bohemier, 74, of Brooksville, Florida passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on October 11, 2020. He was born February 1, 1946 to Frederick and Beverly Hilsinger Bohemier in Syracuse, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Judy. Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 55 years, Kathy; daughter Conni; sons Scott (Jacqui); and Mike; siblings Bill (Sheila), Jean (Roger), Joan, Fred, Janice (Joe); grandchildren Jessica (Mike), Justin, Christine (Mike), Kali (Denny); Bradley, Tanner, and Lexi; great-grandchildren Mason and Olivia.
Tom and his loving wife Kathy retired from the Furniture Barn in Carson City, Nevada and enjoyed traveling around the country for three years before settling in the Brooksville, Florida area in 2011, While traveling, Tom especially enjoyed driving through Canada to Alaska and seeing the many majestic bald eagles and this past February, Tom was able to check his final bucket list item, which was taking a cruise to the Panama Canal which he did with his wife and daughter. It was everything he had hoped for and more.
Trying to write a short story about a man with a BIG personality is nearly impossible. Those that knew our dad know that he was a dynamic and dedicated person with a heart of gold and couldn’t help but love him. He had a way of making everyone he met laugh and leave the room a bit lighter than when they went in. Tom loved cooking for those who he cared about, putting on holiday dinners for friends, family and groups small and large. He was a loud and proud Marine that took pride in his service to our country. Semper Fidelis is who he was, how he lived his life and taught us to live ours. Dad was a generous man that was always looking for ways to contribute to activities we were involved in and always had advice full of experience or an encouraging word in rough times. He was an adoring husband, father, grandpa, friend, bowler, hunter, cowboy, inventor, gold miner, baker, race team owner and the list goes on.
As a race team owner, he led his son Scott and his teams to multiple wins and the 1999 Late Model championship.. He taught us that you never give up and never pay someone to do something you can figure out on your own. Everyone that talked to him on the phone had experienced that moment of him hanging up on you mid-sentence. No goodbye, no see ya, no talk to you later; when he was done talking, he was done. We miss his sarcasm, advice and belly laughs.
In lieu of flowers or donations, and in honor of his heart of gold, the family requests that you pay it forward today, be kind and make someones day a bit brighter.
A burial with Military Honors will be held November 12, 2020, 12:30 pm at Florida National Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Carson City area Date: TBA.
