Obituary: Michael A. Smith

Michael A. Smith of Lake Coleman, Texas, formerly of Carson City, Nev., died Sept. 5, 2020 at his residence in Coleman, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born Michael A. Smith on Feb. 21, 1948 in Coleman to Jack Smith and Edna Elizabeth Keeney Smith.

He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. Mike then attended Angelo State University. In 1968, he joined the United States Air Force that turned into a 20-year career where he retired as a Master Sergeant then moved to Carson City, Nev., and worked for Mission Lined Uniform Service for over 10 years. He married Shirley Lilly on June 21,1969 in Hamby, Texas.

Mike loved all sports and was an extremely competitive participant. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and darts. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. Most of all, mike enjoyed being with his family. He loved each of them deeply and cherished all the good times he had with them.

Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Jack and Elizabeth Smith; sister Shirley Chapman; brother Steve Mitchell; and grandson Hunter Kubala

He is survived by his wife Shirley Smith of Lake Coleman, Texas; son Michael S. Smith of Lake Coleman; his daughters Sabra Teague and husband Randy of Lake Coleman, and Marcie Thibodeaux and husband Ken of Colorado, 2 grandson, 3 granddaughters and 4 great grandsons; his siblings Boyd Mitchell and wife Kay of Utah, Rondoe Smith and wife Gloria of Stephenville. Texas, Beth Moore and husband Randall of Minnesota, and numerous nieces and nephews.
