Obituary: Judy “Yaya” Moffett 1936 – 2023
- October 25, 2023
Judy “Yaya” Moffett, 87, was born June 1, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa to Pete and Grace Anderson and died Oct. 7, 2023 in Carson City, Nev.
Judy loved her family, friends, golf, bowling, snow skiing, woodworking, non-fiction books, laughing, camping, old movies, lobster, Texas Hold’em, shopping (gosh did she love shopping), runny eggs, Fleetwood Mac, Pavarotti and Streisand. She never missed a chance to stop and talk to an infant or child even if she didn’t know the parents. Mom’s love was constant and unconditional. Her gift giving was sometimes weird (think huge Christmas ornament in the shape of a beetle), but all are treasured memories. She had a zest for life, was up for anything and always had a twinkle in her eyes.
Judy had a career at Bently Nevada Corporation where she started a golf league. As there were no women who joined she played from the men’s tees and won the first three years in a row! Her second career was with American Airlines in Texas. She loved working and volunteering at her church.
Yaya is survived by children, Lisa Tolda (Craig Moore), Jeff Smith (Heather) and Robin Smith, grandchildren Emily Kuhlman, Jady Tolda, Randy Nowlan, Brock and Savannah Smith, Jakob, Lauren and Noah Smith, our bonus mother and sister Judy and April Smith and great grandchildren Kaiden, Riley and Jordan Kuhlman.
Services to be held Monday, Oct. 30, 2023 at FitzHenry’s Funeral Home, 3945 Fairview Dr, Carson City at 9 a.m.
