Obituary: James Robert Czadek

Our loving brother and friend, James Robert Czadek, passed away at his home in Long Beach on February 23, 2022. Jim was born in Hayward, Wisconsin on October 6, 1952 to Paul and Beverly Larson Czadek.

He attended high school in Carson, California where he was on the Varsity Cross Country team winning the LA City Championships in 1969. After high school, Jim joined the USAF and served his country as a Medical Service Specialist.

He was an outdoor enthusiast his entire life, who enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and camping. In 2009, Jim obtained a degree in Human Services from Cypress College and up until his untimely passing, worked as an Eligibility Specialist for Orange County Social Services.

Jim was admired for his compassion and humility. He actively practiced mindful meditation and led regularly scheduled meditation meetings at his workplace. Jim was extremely proud to have recently celebrated his 37th year of sobriety, and he continued to be an active member of AA.

He was not fearful of death, and he is now home. The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed. Jim is survived by his siblings Michael Czadek, Jeff Czadek, Craig Gehrke, and Catherine Czadek-Smokey, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A virtual memorial is planned for 3/17/2022. A private celebration of life is planned for the summer at June Lake, California.
