Obituary: Christine Lucille (Tassi) Reed June 2, 1942 – October 12, 2023

Christine Lucille (Tassi) Reed passed away unexpectedly October 12, 2023 while with her grandson and daughter.

Born June 2, 1942, in Compton, California, Christine’s family settled in Susanville. Nick-named “Sassy Tassy” she was popular amongst her peers, a cheerleader and member of many school clubs. After graduating from Lassen High School she remained in California before moving to Carson City, Nevada in 1997.

She loved music, racing in women’s powderpuff derby, roller skating and scary movies at the drive-in. She later enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center, crafting, participating in the Senior Follies, playing cards and “coffee talk” with the ladies.

She adored her grandchildren. Babysitting, attending every sporting and school event and known for making sure they had enough Butterfingers in their bag when she took them trick-or-treating.

Christine was a hard worker and her love of working with the public was a perfect fit for her quick wit and big heart. Prior to retiring, she was the manager of the S & S Mini Market.

Baptized on October 13, 2013, her life came full circle reconnecting with willing family, including her mother whom she felt blessed to enjoy many visits with until her passing in October 2015.

Her laugh was infectious. She was feisty, funny, kind and loyal if deserving. She fought for the underdog, and never ended a conversation without saying “I love you”.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Dorothy Tassi, a niece and nephew. She’s survived by several family members, most notably her loving daughters DeAnna Walsh-Guthrie (Steve Higley) Deborah Gunzburg (Al Duran) grandson and best friend Micah Guthrie, and grandson Jeremy Nichols.

Her passing has left an unfillable void, the magnitude of her love along with that mischievous twinkle in her eye will forever be missed.

A private service has been scheduled, Capitol City Cremation and Burial Society are assisting with arrangements.
