Nancy Jane Schneider

Cedar Rapids

Nancy Jane Schneider died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with her family and friends by her side from a courageous seven-year battle with a brain tumor. She was a faithful servant up until her last breath here on earth. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Cedar Rapids is assisting with arrangements.

Nancy was born on Jan. 30, 1960, in Manchester, Iowa, to Junior and Beverly Schneider. She spent her childhood days growing up on the family farm where she attended Maquoketa Valley Schools, graduating in 1978. She went on to further her education at the University of Iowa where she got her bachelor and master degrees. After graduating from the University of Iowa, she traveled to Mexico to student teach. When she was done teaching in Mexico she moved up to Forth Worth where she began teaching Elementary children. She made the decision to move back home in 1985 to become a Counselor in Tiffin School District. After counseling there for a while, she decided to accept a job at the University of Iowa as an Engineering Counselor where she worked until she had to quit because of health reasons. In the following years, she enjoyed spending many of her days up at her happy place, her cabin at Lake Delhi.

She was preceded in death by her father, Junior Schneider.

Nancy is survived by her mother, Beverly Schneider of Manchester; siblings, Bruce (Margie) Schneider of Manchester, and Susan (Dennis) Tinker of Grimes, Iowa. She is also survived by her four nephews, Logan (Jade) Schneider and their daughter, Sutton, Blake (Jessica) Schneider and their daughter, Sophie, Jacob (Caryle) Tinker, and Ben Tinker. Also surviving are many of her dearest friends who loved her so much and have been there for her, especially in the last couple of years. Nancy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend to many. Her teaching will continue on as she has donated her body to the University of Iowa for research.

Her greatest legacy was the love she had for her four nephews; Logan, Blake, Jacob and Ben.

Nancy and her family want to give special thanks to the most recent places she has lived and all their staff at Grand Living and also, The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. Also, special thanks to St. Croix Hospice that was so great being always available to give her love and support to her and to her family and friends in her final day.

As per her wishes, there will not be any services.

Any memorials can be made in her name to Maquoketa Valley Dollars for Scholars or sent to Bruce Schneider, c/o Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404, where the family will set up an annual Scholarship in her name.
