Nancy J. Darnell Gibbs

Nancy J. Darnell Gibbs “Nan-Nan”, 70, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 17,2022, at Pardee Hosptial following an extended illness. Born in Etowah, NC, to the late Mac and Louise Darnell; she is predeceased by her brother John Darnell, sisters Mary Ann Darnell and Linda McCall.
After graduating from West Henderson Highschool, Nancy became a dedicated homemaker. Over the years, she became known to care for all the neighborhood children and took pride in serving her community. She was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. Nancy loved her family and friends; she will be dearly missed by all.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of forty-eight years Rev. Benjamin Sam Gibbs; daughter Carrie Freeman; son Baron Gibbs and his wife Shelia; and grandchildren Seth May, Haley Gash, Alyssa Scott, Dominic Gibbs, Miranda and Dallas Bradburn all of Hendersonville. She also leaves behind brother Jim Darnell and wife Emily also of Hendersonville; several nieces and nephews; Quinton and Deb Brandburn; several cousins and special friends whom she loved dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home; a visitation will be one hour prior. A graveside service will follow at Oak Forest Cemetery of Etowah. Rev. Robert Garren and Rev. Dave Stanford will be officiating.
The family welcomes flowers, but kindly suggest memorial donations in Nancy’s name can be made to the Shiners Hospital for Children of Greenville, South Carolina; Memorial Donations in Honor of Mrs. Gibbs.
