Nancy A. Hughes
- March 7, 2022
Nancy A. Hughes, 80, of Sherman, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2022 with her family at her side. She was born on April 24, 1941 in Cut Bank, Montana to Clarence and Velda Koontz. Nancy married her highschool sweetheart, John “Jack” W. Hughes on September 17, 1962 and he preceded her death on March 27, 2005.
Nancy will be missed dearly by those who knew her. She was a loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Nancy was known for her active involvement in charities, such as PAWS, the Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and many others. She would drop anything to help a person or animal in need. Nancy spent her days doing what she loves – taking care of her dogs; card creating; traveling with her family; laughing; floral arranging; and spending time with those who were important to her. She had an unparalleled zest for life that thankfully has been passed down through each generation. Nancy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springfield and lived her life by the Bible verse, Proverbs 31:26, “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue”.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by her two daughters, Teresa and her husband Darryl Rogers, and Heidi and her husband Mark Darow. Nancy was also the proud grandmother to four grandchildren, Ryan, Mackenzie, Mariah, and Sydney.
Please join us in celebrating her life at Staab Funeral Homes in Sherman, IL on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM (visitation) and Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Justin Snider officiating.
