Nancie Jo Petty, 72, passed away peacefully with her son Jake by her side, at home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Sunday, March 26, 2023, after a valiant four-year battle with cancer.

In 1968, Nancie graduated from George Washington High School, and later, in 2002, she attended Kirkwood Community College. Nancie dedicated 14 years of her life to Iowa Workforce Development, where she made a positive impact on the lives of many. She was widely recognized for her kind and compassionate heart, as well as her unwavering determination and can-do attitude. She was always eager to lend a helping hand and never hesitated to offer support and encouragement to those around her. She inspired countless individuals to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams with passion and purpose.

Nancie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often spending her free time outdoors tending to her garden or landscaping. She also had a talent for construction projects, pouring her energy into building and creating. Her artistic nature was reflected in her passion for painting, as she lovingly captured the beauty of the world around her in her vibrant and lively artwork.

Nancie was dedicated mother to her son, Jake, and always put his needs before her own. She cherished spending time with her beloved cats, cherished family and close friends, and her effervescent personality radiated positivity and joy wherever she went. Her smile was a true reflection of her warm and caring nature and her mere presence had a calming effect on those around her. Although she was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2019, she refused to let it define her and instead lived each day to the fullest, making the most of every moment. She faced her cancer with unwavering strength and resilience.

Nancie is survived by her son, Jake Petty; her brother, Ron Primrose; and her half-sister, Marcia Primrose-Dinneen.

She was predeceased by her mother, Josephine Primrose; and her father, Melvin Primrose.
