Morgan Elizabeth (Kelley) Blomme, 37, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, after a courageous 15-month battle with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, with Father O’Connor officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Castle Grove, Iowa.

Morgan was born on March 16, 1985, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Doug and Judi (Crowley) Kelley. She was a 2003 graduate of Marion High School. Morgan was voted “Biggest Sweetheart” by her classmates and that role continued throughout her life. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Northern Iowa, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Mount Mercy University, and a Master of Arts in teaching from Morningside College. Morgan was united in marriage, on Dec. 7, 2019, to Nicholas “Nick” Joseph Blomme at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. She currently was a fourth-grade teacher at Viola Gibson Elementary in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Morgan previously taught in the Central City and College Community (Prairie Creek) School Districts. She loved being a wife, mother, aunt, teacher, and friend. Morgan was the best party planner, focusing on every last detail and was the organizer of family vacations. She loved planning special fun date nights with her nieces and nephews and was always thinking of others first. Morgan enjoyed going out for mani/pedis and online shopping. She was a fan of many sports and loved rooting for her UNI Panthers, Hawkeyes, Vikings and Cubs. Morgan’s biggest love was for her family, spending time with Nick and watching Brodie reach each “first” milestone. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love her.

Morgan is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Nick Blomme of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Brodie; parents, Doug and Judi Kelley of Marion; sister, Micaela (Cale) Loewen of Cedar Rapids; grandmother, Mary Jane Crowley of Marion; mother and father-in-law, Ken and Connie Blomme of Ladora, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott (Erin) Blomme of Ladora, Pat (Laura) Blomme of Victor, Iowa, and Becca (Mitch) Blythe of South Amana, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Knox and Pace Loewen, Laney, Ruthie, Andi, and Charley Blomme, Brooks, Parker and Baylor Blythe, and Owen and Cameron Blomme; and special aunt and uncle/Godparents, Vicki Crowley of Marion, and Bill Crowley of Coggon, Iowa.
