Monica Pusateri Owen
- February 6, 2022
Monica P. Owen, 65, of Mills River went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Transylvania Regional Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Florida, Monica resided in Western North Carolina for the past 40 years. She was born on September 7, 1956 to Catherine Shirley Pusateri and the late Michael August Pusateri. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Johnny Ray Owen, who died in April 2014.
Monica was known for being full of life with a radiant laugh that could fill any room with happiness. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally and provided her family with a loving home in which her door was always open. Monica loved listening to rock & roll, cruising in her Cadillac Escalade, thrifting for “tchotchkes,” and spending time at the beach; along with exercising her faith in God.
She is survived by her son, John Owen, and wife Kristie; daughters Andrea and Laurell Owen; grandchildren Mason Owen (Lily Crofut), Andrew Owen and Cashton; mother, Shirley Pusateri; sister, Michele Pusateri and family; brother, Greg Pusateri (Annette) and family; sister-in-law, Robin Macklin (Mack) and family; her beloved bird Molly and all of her fur grand babies.
There will be a celebration of Monica’s life at 2pm on Sunday, February 13, 2022, in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Blue Ridge Humane Society, 88 Centipede Lane
