Michael P. Franklin

Michael P. Franklin, 73, of Riverton, IL died at 11:51 am, Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born May 2, 1948 in Quincy, IL to Lamoyne Gardner and Myrtle Evelyn (Beatty) Franklin. He married Linda Susan Altes December 26, 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; one daughter, Jenifer Wofford of Springfield; two sons, Eric Franklin of Riverton and Alan (Lindsay) Franklin of Springfield; four grandchildren, T.J., Lezlie, Aleasha and Jack; three sisters, Pat Waldo of Seattle, Becky (Paul) Wiese of Clarinda, IA and Wendy (James) Ricks of San Rafael, CA; two brothers, Chris (Dorothy) Franklin of St. Charles, MO and Mark (Kathy) Franklin of Chatham and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Michael enjoyed being outside and working in the yard, having family get togethers, traveling, having men get togethers for breakfasts and lunches.

He worked for the Sangamon County Planning Commission and retired from the State of Illinois, Department of Insurance. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

A graveside service will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a future date.
