Michael “Mike” John Kepros, 87, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024. A Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, followed by the Rosary. Following the Rosary, visitation will proceed until 7 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 1790 14th Street in Marion, where an additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass, on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Mike was born on May 27, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Frank P. and Zofia (Nowak) Kepros. He was a 1954 graduate of Marion High School and went on to serve honorably in The United States Navy from 1954 until 1958. Mike attended Loras College before spending 15 years at New Melleray Abbey from 1959 until 1974. He worked for Midland Forge for 24 years, from 1974, until his retirement in 1998. On May 12, 1979, Mike was united in marriage to Cecelia Agnes Scanlon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Mike was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he attended Mass daily. He was a devout Catholic and also prayed the Rosary daily. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. But most of all, Mike was very proud of his family and loved being a “Grandpa”. He enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with family. Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived and lovingly remembered by his son, Christopher (Katherine) Kepros of North Liberty, Iowa; two grandchildren, Claire and Colette Kepros; four siblings, Stanley (Connie) Kepros of Cresco, Iowa, Sister Mary Julia Kepros, RSM of Cedar Rapids, Katherine Pryst of Chicago, Illinois, and Frank Jr. (Juliet) Kepros of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Ofelia Kepros of the Philippines; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cecelia Kepros; four siblings, Ellen Gonzalez, Peter Kepros, James Kepros, and Stephen Kepros; and in-laws, Richard Gonzalez, Mary Jean Kepros, Rita Kepros, and Joseph Pryst.
