Michael “Mike” David Hickle, 54, of Marion, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 22, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, where the family will greet friends from 4:30 p.m. until the service. A private committal service will take place at a later date.

Mike was born on July 5, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Richard Paul and Betty Jean (See) Hickle. He attended Linn-Mar High School. On August 29, 1987, Mike was united in marriage to Cheryl Ann Risk at Noelridge Park in Cedar Rapids. He was employed at Rockwell Collins. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed Little League Baseball, where he found much joy in coaching his son and other boys. He loved spending time with his children, but some of his proudest and fondest memories were when he was around his grandchildren. Those times shared were always cherished. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Cheryl Hickle of Marion; daughter, Ashlee Hickle (Charles Jenkins) of Cedar Rapids; son, Jeremy Hickle of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Aspyn and Justice Jenkins and Brendyn and Teegan Hickle; his mother, Betty Hepker of Iowa City, Iowa; mother-in-law, Betty Risk of Cedar Rapids; four siblings, Mark Hickle, Julie (Chris) Gama, Casey Hepker, and Anna (Troy) Raymer; and a host of many extended family members, including in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hickle; father-in-law, Robert Risk; and his grandparents.
