Maureen M. Duemig

Maureen M. Duemig, beloved mother, Nana, sister and friend passed away peacefully on April 1st at age 80 in Atlanta, GA.

Maureen was born in Lucknow, India on August, 6th 1941 to George and Nellie Bernard. Maureen is survived by her brother, Errol Bernard, sister in laws Margaret and Cheryl Bernard, daughter, Diana, son Peter and five grandchildren. Diana lives with her husband Tim in Smyrna, GA with their children, Sophia, William and Bennett. Peter lives with his wife, Micah and their children Logan and Anna in Fort Mill, SC.

She met her husband, Helmut in India shortly before emigrating with her brother Keith to Australia in 1967. She and Helmut were married in London, England in 1968 and lived in Chile before moving to the United States, settling in New Jersey in 1970. In 1989, Helmut retired and they moved to Hendersonville, NC where they built their dream house with mountain views.

Maureen was known for her sense of humor and loved to entertain and cook for friends and family. She was an animal lover and owned dogs throughout her life. Maureen was an avid gardener and was known for her beautiful flowers in her yard and house.
