Matthew Blaine Carpenter

Matthew Blaine Carpenter, 40, of Mansfield, passed away early Thursday morning, November 25, 2021, at his home.

He was born June 24, 1981, in Mansfield, Ohio. Matt was a loving, friendly, positive man who made many close and long lasting relationships with family and friends. He did not know an enemy because he could win over anyone with his wonderful personality. Matt fancied himself an amateur chef indoors and a master griller outdoors. He was able to cook any meat to perfection and was always looking to advance his skills. He was interested in technology and had exceptional skills in programming all types of phones, tvs, computers and many other devices, as well as being adept at fixing computers.

A lover of animals, he had worked at a veterinary clinic for a short time. Matt had a knack for training his many rescue dogs to perform tricks and have the best manners. He recently developed an interest in law enforcement and was studying online to earn a criminal justice degree. He was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed the Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Indianapolis Colts. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing. Matt will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Matt is survived by his mother, Sandra Scholl; father, Carl Carpenter; sister, Jill Shaheen; most beloved niece, Ali Shaheen; several aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas Scholl, Lillian Textor, Otto Carpenter and Maureen Carpenter.

A gathering of Matt’s family and friends will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Honoring his love of animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County.
