Maryland weather: Overnight snow causes Baltimore-area school delays

Overnight snow has led several Baltimore-area school districts to start two hours late.

Carroll, Harford, Howard, Cecil and Frederick counties’ school districts are on a two-hour delay in addition to the Hereford zone of Baltimore County. Several private schools in those areas, which generally follow public school closures, are also opening two hours late.

Rain was expected to cease around 8 a.m. Monday morning, after a total of just under two inches of rain was measured at BWI Marshall Airport since starting Sunday morning. The morning will remain cloudy with gradual clearing through the day. Temperatures will stay on the cooler side, with a high near 46, according to the National Weather Service.

It’s expected to be a breezy day. Winds from the west will start at a moderate pace of 10 to 15 mph but will intensify in the morning, reaching speeds of 17 to 22 mph. Gusts could potentially hit as high as 33 mph.

As night descends, the weather will shift to mostly clear skies. Temperatures will drop to a chillier low around 31.
