Mary Ann Slach
Cedar Rapids
Mary Ann Slach finally lost her 6-year battle with Cancer on October 26, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, IA. Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 am at the Cedar Memorial Park State Room. The 11:00 am Memorial Service will held following the visitation at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will be at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum shortly after the service.
She was born on October 16, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, IA to Paul and Janice (Helmold) Wright. Mary Ann worked as a Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant at the North Cedar School District (formerly Lincoln) for 37 years before retiring in 2017.
Mary Ann loved her animals, both indoor and outdoor. She enjoyed giving them treats or food and just watching them. She was reluctant to travel with her husband but eventually she enjoyed making lasting memories. She enjoyed watching movies or shows that made her laugh.
Before her Cancer diagnosis she loved spending time with her friends and family and trying all the food the world had to offer. She continually adapted to ‘new normals’ and despite all the many setbacks she was a fighter until the very end.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 49 years, Cecil, whom she married on July 3, 1976, in Bennett, IA; daughter, Courtney (Micky) Hansen; mother, Janice Wright; sister Sandra (Gene) Eiselstein; brother Douglas (Anita) Wright and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father Paul.
