Mary Ann Johnson

Mary Ann Johnson, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital, Springfield, IL.

She was born on November 11, 1948 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of the late Gerald and Mary Peterson.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Peterson.

Mary Ann retired from the Illinois Department of Public Health after more than thirty years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her animals, doing crossword puzzles, floral arranging, crafts, and baking. She also played piano, liked to draw, and even took up photography as a hobby.

She is survived by her two daughters, Gina (husband James) House of Springfield and Melissa (husband Patrick) Murphy of Chandler, AZ; five grandchildren, Witney Scott, Jace and Kayleigh House, Sean and Makenna Murphy; her sister, Kathy Sgro and her brother, Thomas Peterson both of Springfield, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Cremation Rites were accorded by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
