Martha Rae Price, PhD, age 79, of Yorkville, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at her home in Yorkville. She was born on August 27, 1944 in Fairbury, IL, the daughter of John Douglas and Esther (Deputy) Kinzer.
Martha was united in marriage on August 6, 1967 to Mr. Kyle Price and they spent the next 56 years happily together.
Martha earned her Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and PhD in Business Education from Northern Illinois University. She was employed for 30 years as a professor at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, IL, recognized by the Waubonsee Faculty Council for her outstanding service to students.
Martha was a very talented musician playing both the piano and organ at church, weddings, retirement groups and other Chapel on the Green events in Yorkville. She was a longtime member of the American Guild of Organists.
Martha also had a passion for sunsets, antiquing, and vacationing in Door County, WI. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Kyle Price of Yorkville, IL; her children, Stacey (Bill) Dahm of Oswego, IL, Kevin (Rachel) Price of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren Avery, Colten and Ainsley Dahm, Chloe, and Leonard Price; and her brother, Gerald (Donna) Buckler of Pontiac, IL; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Douglas Kinzer; her mother and stepfather, Esther (Kinzer) and Arndt Buckler; and granddaughter Delaney Dahm.
Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Chapel on the Green, 107 W. Center Street, Yorkville, IL. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville, IL.
