Maysville, Missouri….Martha Eleanor (Evans) Spiers went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 1, 2024.
Martha was born on May 1, 1924, at Bolckow, Missouri, to William Everett and Stella Leanora Winifred (Williams) Evans. She had a brother William David (Bill), sisters, Maxine (Evans) Young, and Geraldine Winifred (Evans) Bracken.
Martha attended twelve years of grade and High School at King City School. After graduating she attended Platt Business College in St. Joseph, MO.
She was employed at several businesses in St. Joseph, including Kresge Dime Store, her first place of employment while going to school.
On October 17, 1943, she married Marion Spiers of Maysville, MO. Their first home was northwest of Fairport, MO. Into this union six children were born: Lyndia Joyce Wykert, Marion, Pamela Jeanne Wykert, Randolph, Richard (Shannon), and Marsha Ellen (Paul) Smith. Martha and Marion lived in the Maysville/Fairport area all their married life.
Martha accepted Christ as her savior on her eight birthday and was a member of the King City Baptist Church, moving her letter to the First Baptist Church of Maysville after her marriage to Marion and moving to that area in 1954.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband Marion; their son, Randolph (who was killed in Vietnam in 1970); her parents; mother-in-law/father-in-law, Roy and Jennie (Spiers) Gromer; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Charles Bracken; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Russell Young; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Helen (Snuffer) Evans; son-in-law, Larry Wykert; niece Helen Evans (#7).
Martha was a member of First Baptist Church of Maysville and was active in her church as Secretary for many years until she retired in January 2021.
Martha is survived by children: Lyndia, Marion, Pamela, Richard, and Marsha; grandchildren, Chris, Kenneth, and Kevin Wykert, Joe, Jon and Sarah Spiers, Jeanne White, Chrystal Wilkinson, Cathy Coats, Elisabeth Sanders, David, and Gary Wykert, Jacob Spiers, Jennifer Smith, Mike Smith, and Troy Smith; and a myriad of great grand kids and nieces and nephews that she loved and cherished with all her heart, and many dear Christian friends and others she held dear.
Martha’s greatest wish was for all her family and friends to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8th 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Maysville with Pastor Greg Dixon officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Maysville, by the side of Marion, the love of her life. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Maysville.
