Marlon Gibson
- August 12, 2024
Marlon Gibson, born on March 15, 1976, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Leotis and Doris Gibson (deceased), passed away unexpectedly. Marlon was a proud alumnus of Collinwood High School and briefly attended Youngstown State and Tennessee State University before his ongoing battle with diabetes necessitated his return home. Throughout his life, Marlon remained a devoted Christian, finding immense strength and solace in his faith, particularly during his final days.
Marlon’s professional journey included dedicated service at Pioneer Standard and Walmart until he retired due to disability. In 2015, he married the love of his life, Synetra Porch-Gibson, with whom he shared a deep and lasting connection. Marlon is survived by his beloved wife, his father Leotis Gibson, Darlene Porch (mother-in-law known to him as DellaReese), his (brother) Lamont Gibson, and his children: Mariel Gibson, Mya Gibson, Nautica Davis, and Ivory Porch III. He’s also a proud grandfather to Averey and Ivy Porch.
Marlon’s life was rich with cherished memories, particularly those of trips and football events spent with his lifelong friends, Sean Hunt and Chris Walker. He was a passionate football enthusiast and enjoyed the simple joys of shopping. Marlon’s ultimate pride and joy came from his family, particularly his beloved cousin, Delonte Rivers. His love for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience. Marlon’s memory will be forever cherished by his immediate family, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. His spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
