Mark Allan Hoaglund was born May 27, 1958 in Sac City, IA., the son of John Lafae and Loretta Ignes (LaRaas) Hoaglund, and passed away
peacefully at his home with his family by his side on July 7, 2022.
Mark attended Sac Community Schools through the 6th grade, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in Bloomington, MN. in 1977. Mark joined the Marines in 1977 proudly serving 12 years through 3 tours between Camp Pendleton CA and Camp Lejeune NC as an Antitank Assualtman, Guided Missleman, and Infanty Unit Leader. Advancing to the rank of Staff Sergeant, Mark earned numerous Badges, Medals, and Commendations. He later went on to work at Western Missouri Correctional Center for 28 years where he retired as a Sergeant in 2020.
On July 22, 1989 Mark and JoNelle (Griffin) Rush were united in marriage in Jacksonville, NC.
Mark was a lifelong Vikings and Hawkeyes fan who would spend hours painting magnetic football figurines for his game. He loved his dogs
Cody and Jake. He loved to fish for hours even if they weren’t biting. Halloween was his favorite holiday to decorate for. He would cover the whole yard and house in scary decorations. Mark was always
watching an old horror movie or classic in black and white.
He enjoyed spending time teasing the grandkids and calling them out on their crap.
Mark was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, John Hoaglund.
He is survived by his wife, JoNelle of the home; two sisters, LaVon (Ron) Goodrich of Des Moines IA, LaDonna (Carl) Driggins of Lakefield, MN; Sons Lloyd (Cheri) Rush of Dearborn, MO, Paul (Amy) Rush of
Stewartsville, MO, Eric (Debra) Rush of Gower, MO, Tom (Julie) Rush of St Joseph, MO; Grandchildren, Solomon, Sophia, Gage, Cain, Libby, J.T., Trevor, Brittney, Bree-Onna, Brook-Lynn, Bishop, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, July 11th from 6-8pm at Turner Family Funeral Home in Stewartsville MO.
Private family internment at a later date.
Memorial Contributions in his honor can be made to: Special Olympics and to the Wounded Warriors in Action.
