Marjorie was born on July 10, 1927 in Keystone, daughter of Henry and Alma Mehlhouse Tecklenburg. She attended rural school and graduated from Keystone High School in 1944. She worked in the office of Wilson Foods for 8 years and the Linn County Extension Service for 30 years. She was the bookkeeper for Linn Co, DHIA for 25 years. She also served as trustee on Wilson Retirees Trust. She married Melvin A. Schulte on September 3, 1946 at St. Patrick Church in Cedar Rapids. They had a son, Craig, and a grandson, Aaron. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother was special in her life. She attended all of their sporting events and loved to bake all the family birthday pies and many cookie treats and special family holiday meals. She enjoyed teaching Aaron how to make Spanish rice, pickled cucumbers, and applesauce.
Marjorie was a member of the Holy Family Circle and volunteered many years at St. Patrick’s Church. Marjorie and Melvin met at Danceland and many years of dancing followed. They had fun with friends and met new friends. Marjorie had a big heart for all of her family and friends. Her kindness will be missed by all. She takes with her the best recipes for pecan pie, candy cane cookies, and Thanksgiving dressing.
