Marion “Bud” Arthur Northup, 87, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Services will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Teahen Funeral Home with Pastor Anne Williams officiating. Visitation will take place from 12 to 2 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairfax Cemetery, Fairfax.
Marion is survived by his son, Mark (Kathy) Northup of Fairfax; daughter, Michelle (Mark) Heglie of Princeton, Minnesota; and four grandchildren, Mark Jr. (Emme) Northup and Emily Northup, both of Fairfax, Daniel Ross of Madison, Wisconsin, and Aubrey (Lindsey Burcar) Ross of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Northup, and daughter, Monica Northup.
Marion was born March 24, 1938, in Iowa City, the son of Arnold and Veda Sutton Northup. He attended Garfield Elementary in Oskaloosa and graduated from Ottumwa High School. He married Mary Ellen Ruby on September 2, 1958. Marion later attended Northeast Missouri State University. He worked as an operator for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids from 1966 until his retirement in 2000.
Marion was a member of Local 110 RWDSU and Clover Ridge Methodist Church. He enjoyed feeding wild birds and reading. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the family for an established memorial fund.
